The U. S. Census Bureau is currently hiring census takers for the 2010 Census. The temporary, part-time positions offer good pay, flexible hours up to 40 hours a week and the chance to work near home.

Census takers work in their communities locating households, explaining the purpose of the census and conducting personal interviews with respondents who fail to return their 2010 Census questionnaire.

Census takers must be at least 18 years of age and in most cases, a valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle are required.

The thirty-minute employment test consists of multiple-choice questions measuring knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform a variety of census jobs.

Pre-registration for the test is encouraged.

Call toll free at 1-866-861-2010 for more information on testing sites and times. For a sample test, visit http://www.2010censusjobs.gov.

Testing will continue into spring 2010.
