About the Paradise City Forum

A nonpartisan, citywide network of residents, the Paradise City Forum was formed in November 2001 after citizens identified common interests and needs shared by people throughout the city. These needs included providing an independent forum to share strategies and information on local issues, and creating a network that could provide residents active support when needed.

Since 2001, the PCF has held numerous live pubic forums on issues such as Interstate 91 and Smith College expansion, the Northampton State Hospital Ballot Questions, and the Water Filtration Plant in Haydenville. The PCF has also served as an organizing mechanism for projects like the restoration of the Hestia Mural on Masonic Street, the Swaziland Shoe Drive, and the creation of Northampton’s Noise Ordinance.

The PCF website organizes information from a variety of sources including local media, municipal offices, and community residents. You can also find contact information to connect with local groups working on these issues.

Our Yahoo online discussion group covers a range of topics including announcements of events and meetings. You can join in the conversation by registering your email address with our list.

The PCF discussion group email has been used to aide the Northampton Pedestrian-Bicycle Alliance, Valley Free Radio, Coalition for Northampton Neighborhoods, Broad Brook Coalition, Northampton Education Foundation, Mayor Higgin’s Hot Chocolate Run for Safe Passage, and Shelter Sunday fundraisers, as well as the Greener Watts Sustainable Energy initiative, the Media Education Video Sale, and the League of Women Voters Book Sale.
